Another

ANOTHER WAR takes the form of an RPG
but instead of swords and sorcery the main character is dumped firmly into the dark times
of the Second World War. Players choose their hero from one of three different classes: Strongman, Thief or Intellectual and these carry
their own set of stats that are boosted as players progress through the game. Each
character also approaches problems from a unique angle for example
Right at the start of play the hero is captured by the Nazis and thrown into a cell. If you have chosen the Strongman option as your character he will simply force the cell door to escape. The thief, on the other hand, will search the cell for a tool to pick the door lock while the Intellectual strikes up a conversation with the guard and gets him to open the door. These skills set the theme for the rest of the gameplay but each
hero class has its downside as well as its up and its the players job to figure out
the best way to approach each situation. Many useful items are provided to help your cause
and these are found within the scenarios or available as trade items from other
characters. In some cases, however, certain objects or weapons may not function correctly
unless you have the correct skill stats to use them so another method of solving the
puzzles has to be found. This is all done in classic RPG mode. Interaction with on-screen characters, examining and collecting items or searching for clues is seen from the familiar isometric viewpoint and managed from a simple interface. Theres also plenty of combat to get to grips with but its not all doom and gloom. There are touches of humour throughout which provides a welcome bright side to an otherwise dark era and this, together with dynamic lighting, particle effects and sound, make ANOTHER WAR an interesting and enjoyable experience packed on to 4 CDs.
