Fifth Gear: The Supercar Collection

Tiff Needell’s 10 favourite supercar road tests from the award-winning Fifth Gear show

Released by 4DVD on Monday 9th June 2008

From Five’s award-winning popular car show, produced by North One Television, comes Fifth Gear: The Supercar Collection, available to own on DVD from Monday 9th June from 4DVD.

For the first time ever, Tiff Needell (Fifth Gear founder, ex-Top Gear presenter and racing driver) has brought together his 10 favourite Supercar road tests from the programme in one high octane compilation.

£3 million worth of rare and exclusive cars are included, from the glorious 191 mph Aston Martin DBS through to the 253mph Bugatti Veyron. There's a chance to see the first time Tiff ever drove the exotic Pagani Zonda S, and relive the thrilling wheel to wheel race between Tiff in a Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera and professional superbike rider Leon Haslam on his Ducati 1098.

Many of the cars featured were built in such tiny numbers that it's extremely unlikely most petrol-heads will ever get the chance to see them up close, but here Tiff shares his privileged access and puts the viewer directly in the driving seat. He's the only man able to put a car costing nearly £1m into a tyre-smoking powerslide, then turn to camera and tell you exactly what he's feeling.

As well as seeing rare cars like the Enzo Ferrari taken to the track and driven to the limit (Tiff famously defied Ferrari's strict instructions and turned off the electronic traction control systems so he could go even faster) there’s also an exclusive insight into some of the incredible factories where these cars are built – the sort of access normally off limits to all but the rich and famous. You'll see inside the McLaren Technology Centre, a factory cleaner than a hospital operating theatre, and the suitably imposing French chateau where the world's most expensive car, the £890,000 Bugatti Veyron, is assembled.

The full list of cars includes:

Aston Martin DBS – James Bond's latest car and first seen in Casino Royale. Within 100 yards of driving it Tiff knew he was going to be blown away by how good it was.

Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera – it's Supercar v Superbike, as Tiff races at 150mph against a wheelie-ing Leon Haslam on a Ducati 1098.

Chevrolet Corvette ZO6 – the best value Supercar on sale today in the fastest drifts you'll ever see.

Ferrari 430 Scuderia – is the meanest, baddest version of one of Tiff's favourite ever cars really as fast as an Enzo Hypercar on a circuit?

Pagani Zonda S – the product of an unknown manufacturer, but this first ever TV test of the car helped seal Zonda’s iconic Supercar status.

Ford GT – does this modern day version of the legendary Le Mans racer the GT40 live up to the legacy?

Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren - an exclusive insight into the £200m factory, the “customer induction” programme, and high speed testing on road and track of the only 200mph Supercar built here in Britain.

Enzo Ferrari – the famous test where Tiff was only allowed five laps to drive this precious Ferrari flagship.

McLaren F1 – from petrol station to race track, Tiff shows us what it's like to live with the car that reigned as the world's fastest for so long.

Bugatti Veyron – Tiff shows us round the factory where this amazing 253mph car is made, then manages to get it sideways on the track.

Fifth Gear: The Supercar Collection is a unique close-up look at the world's fastest cars. Owning this DVD is the next best thing to owning the cars themselves.
